Back to the Future: West Van --> Coal Harbour by Ferry

A quick post here, a day late: West Vancouver city council approved, yesterday, a six month trial run of a ferry service from near Ambleside park to Coal Harbour.

The service will be run by Coastal Link Ferries, using a ship they claim "uses less fuel per seat than ANY other vessel". The route will begin in early November and will cost as little as $4 one-way. The company will simply add the stop to a route they already run - from Bowen Island to Coal Harbour.

An excellent decision by West Vancouver council - and it is good to see private company finding a new niche in which to operate. Hopefully the boat will be able to convince some West Vancouverites to avoid trying to cross the Lions Gate bridge, alone, in their Porsche SUV, while on their way to choose the backsplash for the condo in Coal Harbour they're renting out for the olympics. Hmmm.
